A visit to VTU, Belgaum,Karnataka
Blogs can do wonders if they convey the right information. I write this one to aid all those who brave the journey to VTU. If you are in search of information regarding collection of Degree Certificate by The Registrar ( Evaluation ), VTU , you have hit bull's eye
I planned to visit VTU to collect my Degree certificate(DC). The reason i had to visit vtu is because i was unavailable at home when the degree certificate was posted to me. I was a 2008 pass out and almost 3 years had passed since the completion of my course. Because of my personal and professional commitments i kept it delaying and finally in the monsoon of 2011 I decided to go and get the DC myself.
I took a bus ( Rajahamsa Executive 2100hrs ) from Majestic bound for Belgaum, due to unseen circumstances the bus got delayed and it started at 2200hrs. I reached Belgaum at 0930hrs on Thursday the 14th JUL 2011. It must have rained heavily the previous night, atleast that's how it looked. There's a lodge called as YATRI LODGE in C.B.T where you can pay a small amount of Rs 30/- and get fresh.
I had read a blog wherein the guy had suggested to take a bus bound for Santhibastavad (सन्तिबस्थवड ) from C.B.T. (Central Bus Terminal). Fortunately, the intercity bus stand in Belgaum, C.B.S. is dead opposite C.B.T- the intracity bus stand. I recorded 4 buses that go to V.T.U from C.B.T. The bus numbers are : 113,122,78 and 161. The university is around 12 kms from C.B.T.
En-route I noted the changing landscape and stark contrast of the hustle of Belgaum city center and the rustic outskirts. The bus passed through College Road, Gogte Circle off Railway station, Khanapur Road ( Tilakwadi), Khanapur road (Udhyambag), Peeranwadi, Jamboti Road and finally after beautiful 40 minutes the entrance arch of VTU welcomed me.
The sight of a lone Bank of Mysore with an attached ATM lifted my spirits.
Things to NOTE:
In order to receive your degree certificate all you need is a xerox copy of your ID proof (Passport, voters ID, Driving License) along with a letter to the Registrar(Evaluation).
Another important thing to know is that the next Rajhamsa to Bangalore is at 1730hrs in the evening.

will they give it to u on the same day or send it across to u by courier? and what do u mean by ID card??is the same Id card what you get from college or any Govt. Approved ID card will do???
Hi Rahul,
ReplyDeleteIt hardly took me an hour to get my DC. But make sure you get it done within 1pm. As 1-2 is the lunch time.
By ID i mean: Any govt authorised proof that has your name and address. Eg: Passport, Voter's ID, Driver's license and so on.

ReplyDeleteDuring my times, the only way to get it was to go visit VTU. But now with new norms you can get it directly. Try contacting the VTU registrar.

ReplyDeleteYou will probably have to check with your college and find out if in case they have received the DC. If not most likely it has gone back to VTU.
